I used to always have the coolest phone

There is a great rumor posted yesterday at about the time the Iphone stores marked all Iphones as unavailable (it was either Saturday night or Sunday AM). Feeding some speculation that a 3G iphone launch was imminent. While I'd prefer a keyboard, if it has 3g, GPS, let alone a OLED screen I'd jump ship from sprint. Note I've been a Sprint customer even in 1996 when I was an early employee of wireless carrier Omnipoint (now T-Mobile), their advanced moves on wireless data and great devices kept me loyal even though I loved the company (I had phones from both but always kept my Sprint phone). However, both they and the CDMA device makers have fallen pretty fall behind and I am thinking it's time to make a change.

Other devices out there look pretty compelling--The BBery "Bold" just came out and looks fantastic. And HTC with rapid product innovations has Raphael and Diamond at the FCC--usually an indicator that a device is coming within about 6 weeks.

But this rumor from the guys at Macrumors below is pretty juicy. It basically says beyond the imminent 3G launch this month there may be a mini mac in a phone coming based off the Iphone form factor. Maybe with a keyboard.

My favorite except below:

The reason for a pre-WWDC announcement? Reportedly, Apple would instead announce a brand new portable device at WWDC. No other details of what this device might be, but there have been rumors that Apple was developing a mini-tablet multitouch device for launch in 2008. This PDA-like device would reportedly have a higher screen resolution (720x480) and be about 1.5x the size of the existing iPhone.
